Who will be in your Bok team against Australia?

August 27, 2012 in Uncategorized

After this weekend s game it is clear that the Boks has a lot of homework to do. Will Heyneke change his gameplan or just tweak it here and there. According to Mallett and Botha he should definitely change it. According to me he should definitely change it.This one dimensional gameplan out of the archives will bring him no joy in the modern era.

It looks like we need a true fetcher like Brussouw at number 6. At number 7 we need to play a bruiser like Arno Botha and Dwayne at number 8. Bekker, clearly not in the best of form, can be allowed to play himself back in to form. Jeandre Kruger and Willem Alberts on the bench. In the backline we need to replace the halfback pair of Hougaardt and Morne Steyn with Lambie and Pienaar. Hougaardt to sit on the bench.

My team will be as follows: Boks

15. Frans Steyn     14.Lwazi Mvovo  13. JJ. Engelbrecht 12. Jean de Villiers  11. Bryan Habana 10. Patrick Lambie 9. Ruan Pienaar

8.Duane Vermeulen 7. Arno Botha 6. Marcel Coetzee 5. Andries Bekker 4. Eben Etzebeth 3. Beast Mtawarira 2. Adriaan Strauss

1. Jannie Du Plessis

Reserwes: Francois Hougaardt , Elton Jantjies , Paul Jordaan, Juandre Kruger, Willem Alberts, Craig Burden, Steven Kitshoff

CJ Stander is unlucky not to be in the team and also Tiaan Liebenberg, because i would save him for the Kiwis. Johan Goosen needs to get the rust out of his system first, but in Lambie and Jantjies we have two very competent number 10 “s. Pat Cilliers i would also save for the Kiwis.

Province Currie Cup woes and Bok Chop Suey.

Province started of on a false note losing the opener of their Currie Cup campaign at home. Still our backline has no clue of how to engineer tries, no Fleckin clue. We need a backline coach that knows his stuff. David Campese and any Cheetahs backline coach like for instance Helgard Muller will solve the problem for us. Furthermore we have no number 9 or number 10 that can dictate and that includes Peter Grant. Without a general at 9 and 10 or at least one general at 9 or 10 we are dead ducks in the water. As an emergency measure i would try Joe Petersen at flyhalf. Then the Province selectors will do well to fasttrack a certain young man with the surname of Worrall into the Province team as fullback. This young mans omission from the SA Schools team was to me a bigger mystery than the theories of Hawking and Einstein. This boy was definitely the best footballer at the Craven week. He is an excellent attacker and is a very good tactical kicker and defender and his positional play was excellent. I was totally convinced that he would be in the team. Worrall and the centre Van Rensburg and the big wing Van der Merwe was by far the best backs on display at the Craven week. I also believe that Worrall has got what it takes to make the successfull transition from schools rugby to provincial rugby. Come on Province. Remember, no risk, no reward. Just remember young Neil Burger, Carel du Plessis, Agie Koch,De Villiers Visser, Schalk Burger and an even younger Peter Kirsten chosen for province in years gone by. That is why Province rugby was great. If you were good enough  they did not care how old you are. Just look at Kolisi and Etzebeth among the forwards of late. Get some young blood in at the backs and change the coach if necessary.

That brings us to the Boks. I am very worried about what is going on. Heyneke decided to let the out of form players play against the Pumas. All that will happen is that they will play well against the Pumas and when they play against the real strong teams, their wheels will come off. Heyneke should forget about his Blue Bulls sentiments and pick the best players. He is supposed to be the Bokcoach and if the Boks start losing with all those Bulls players in the team , the team and coach will quickly lose support.
