Sharks weathered the storm and cruised to victory.

July 29, 2012 in Uncategorized

In a physical and hard battle the Stormers and the Sharks smashed into each other. Two players that will stil be legends in their own lifetimes put this battle into perspective. Eben Etzebeth hit Bismarck du Plessis with the impact of a freight train and Bismarck went down as if he would be out for the full count. To everyones amazement Bismarck got up , played on and gave an excellent account of himself. Definitely the best and toughest number 2 in world rugby. Most players that gets hit like Bismarck was, would stay down or would not be a very active participant in the rest of the game.

The Sharks Bok frontrow, their superior experience and a well coached backline was the main reasons why the Sharks pulled through. The Sharks can now without a doubt claim that they are the best SA rugby team. The Stormers without a doubt is the next best  team. The Sharks are once again in a position to take the Super rugby title. If the Sharks win the title after travelling three times in three weeks , twice to Australia and Kiwiland and once back to SA , they must definitely be the best team in the history of Super rugby to win the trophy.

The Stormers is not far away from the success they are looking for. They only need a backline coach with the vision of a David Campese to get the backline on track. The forwards are very young , but also very promising and would deliver a great deal more after all the experience they gained this year. a Top scrumhalve with a quick service and a real presence on the field is essential. Get someone like Andries Coetzee to fill the flyhalf position and also sign young Justin Worrall, fullback in the schools side. He was the outstanding footballer at this years Craven week.

Go get that trophy for South Africa Sharks.

Proteas blooming at the Oval.

It looks like Gary Kirsten is doing his magic. The Proteas looks solid and workmanlike. Amla bats like there is nothing that can trouble him.Magnificent 100 by Amla.

Congratulations to Graeme Smith on his 100 in his 1ooth test match. Hope we go from strenght to strenght now and take that top spot for ourselves.

Bulls reduced to bully beef in Christchurch and the Sharks devour the Red snappers.

The mighty Crusaders did not waste any time in doing a nonchalant demolition job on the happless Bulls. The Bulls looked more like oxen used for ploughing after a hot day in the sun. Heyneke Meyer will quickly need to rethink his whole coaching strategy. If the Bulls form the nucleus of the Bok group, then he should consider withdrawing the Boks from the four nations. We have no fit flyhalf currently.Goosen and Lambie is the only SA players that will make it as a flyhalf.

The Sharks was unstoppable in their demolition of the Reds. Their forwards was awe inspiring. Bismarck , his brother Jannie and the Beast assisted by Willem Alberts and the loosetrio made up by Kankowsky,Daniel and Marcel Coetzee was unbelievable. The backline with Mcleod, Michalack and especially JP Pietersen was superb. As a team the Sharks was not from the same planet than the Bulls. The core of the Bok team should be a mixture of Sharks and Stormers players with the odd Bull here and there. Plumtree deserves a big cheer for his hand in the Sharks success.

The Crusaders judged on their victory today, should be able to overcome the Chiefs. If the Chiefs win it will probably be the extra weeks rest that they got. The Sharks looks like they are far superior to any of the SA teams. My head tells me that the Sharks can beat the Stormers at Newlands, but my heart tells me that the Stormers, after the extra weeks rest, can do it at Newlands. Remember also that the Sharks will have to deal with two journeys to and from Australia , plus the rigours of playing the Reds. It was by no means an easy game and the Reds were also quite physical up front, although not really matching the Sharks.

The one thing we all can be certain of is that the 4 best teams came out on top and the next 2 weekends we are going to see some excellent rugby. Good luck to the Stormers, Sharks ,Chiefs and the Crusaders and may the best teams win as long as it is the Stormers and the Chiefs.
