King(s) Bulls deserved wins!

February 24, 2013 in Uncategorized

The Bulls has horns again! Congrats; however, if these are two of SA’s better teams and you can compare this quality to the Highlanders vs Chiefs, I want to do a Luke Watson! The Stormers’ ‘lions’ were poor. Don’t blame adapting to a gameplan etc. That was individual skills of shocking standard. Elton Jantjies blew it and made Allister Coetzee’s selection for next Saturday as easy as pie. Pick Peter Grant as he is ready to fall in this week.

The Bulls kicking; tactical and to posts, were superior and the big difference. They also had the edge at scrum time. To Frans Ludeke and Allister Coetzee: when your lineouts were as dismal as it was, implement short lineouts and beat the opponents with movement. Ever heard of a three or five man lineout etc? How much do you coaches get paid?

Bryan Habana was brilliant for most of the game. An easy standout and the best on the field. When Jean de Villiers (the Springbok incumbent at inside centre) did pop-up in the inside channels, the Stormers did get over the game line. It’s elementary Mr Coetzee! Next, to slaughter some Sharks in the tank!

Well done to the Sharks and the Cheethas to display some exciting running rugby. Alhtough Johan Goosen started like a cat and not a cheetah, he and Patrick Lambie are the future of Bokrygby!

The biggest surprise was the Kings beating the Force convincingly. Team pride and defense pulled this one through and even if the Kings don’t win any more games, they have done better than the Bulls in 20002!

  1. Agree, Jean is better at inside. Bekker also impressed at outside…. X_X

Had our kicks gone over, would have been a much closer game and perhaps a win for the Stormers, but the season is long and enough time to fix those mistakes.

  2. The biggest issue was the handling; no team can win with 17 handling errors in 1 game…

  5. Hi Kevin

How dissapointing was the Stormers not…

My personal thoughts were the following, not sure if you would agree…

    1. Bulls played the same gameplan as usual-still the stormers appeared unprepaired and unable to adapt. Not sure if it is a player or a coach thing…

    2. Think JdeV should have played at 12…appears De Allende is trying to pull Sonny Bill style and never gets the ball out to 13

    3. Jantjes had an absolute shocker, both on Defence and kicking- time for Grant definately

    4. Taute had a lot of carries but appears to be struggling to bring others into the game as he is hanging on to the ball way too long…

    5. Scrums are a concern, appeared that the Stormers has failed to adapt to new rulings?? Although I did think they were unlucky in some instances….

Positives I think was as you mentioned, Habana, fourie played his usual part while DV had moments. Was also very impressed with the pace and agression Joe Pietersen put on the ball when he came on, they should strongly considder him for the next game, maybe at fullback with Taute moving to 13?

I feel our nr 9 failed to aid in relieving pressure off Jantjies, maybe duvenhage Grant will be a better option?

Look forward to hearing some opinions

    Morne

  6. I was surprised by how bad the Stormers were! They have the best team (on paper) by far, and I thought they would easily beat the bulls. But the bulls showed they’re going to be tough to beat again this year.
I think AC made a mistake playing Jantjies in this game, with him not having played any of the warm up games. But it also looked like Jantjies didn’t want to be there..
And the queens, what can I say about the queens… Maybe I should take my hat off for this win, they really played their guts out. BUT, this was by far their easiest game of the season. So lets see how they do against proper opposition

  12. Hi Kevin

Ja ek dink n goeie 9 sal nogal n verskil maak…
