MccAWESOME the best player ever

October 11, 2012 in Uncategorized

Richie McCaw or MccAWESOME is in my book the best rugby player ever to grace this game. It use to be Gareth Edwards, the brilliant Welsh and British Lions scrumhalf; however, with McCaw now the first and only player to reach 100 test wins (out of 112 tests played) and constantly not just shining, but, also keep on improving and adjusting to the laws, he is my choice!

David Campese, Jona Lomu, Carel du Plessis, Dan Carter, JPR Williams, Martin Johnson, Frik du Preez, Colin Meads, Zinzan Brooke, Tim Horan, Michael Jones, Phil Bennett, Victor Matfield, Christian Cullen, Joost van der Westhuizen and of course Danie Gerber would be my other world class players in this category.

McCaw has won the IRB Player of the year three times: 2006, 2009 and 2010. He would get my vote for 2012 as well.

Let’s continue with picking an All Time World XV. Yes, I know some will argue that it is impossible as some were amateurs and the game has changed etc; however, compare how you think those amateurs would have performed if rugby was their profession.
