Genia stays with the Reds!

April 30, 2012 in Uncategorized

The world’s best scrumhalf dropped a big bomb, or should we say that the media, ala Tim Horan, leaked out a possible move from the Reds to the Force in 2013 for Will Genia. Although Genia reacted in saying that nothing was signed, he decided yesterday to change is mind and stay with the current SupeRugby Champions.

Genia was offer a $600 000 deal with the Force, but accepted a $100 000 less Reds contract. That’s what you call loyalty ladies and gentlemen!

Genia has signed a three-year deal, but McKenzie said negotiations were ongoing regarding the ARU portion of his contract, amid talk of a Super Rugby salary cap.

Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/will-genia-to-stay-with-queensland-reds-20120430-1xtos.html#ixzz1tUSpAhlo

It is a big blow for the Force after they already lost Richard Graham their coach to the Reds and Nathan Sharpe will hang up his boots at the end of this Super15 season.

PS: my personal viewpoint is that Genia stayed due to:

- Quade Cooper and Digby Ioane. I’m sure that if Genia would have left for Perth, Cooper would have followed. Ioane Tweeted that he would never leave the Reds again for another Aus S15 team. That just tells me he will go overseas in the future.

- Ewan McKenzie might be the next Wallaby coach if Robbie Deans fails this year and next year against the Lions. If Deans lose badly this year in the Fournations or againt Scotland and Wales, he might be gone anyhow. Genia will be a future Wallaby captain; he is only 23 years. So maybe he realised if he turns his back on McKenzie he turns his back on Wallaby captaincy as he won’t be captain at the Force while David Poccock is there.

- He learned from Digby Ioane, James O’Connor and Matt Giteau that it is difficult to ‘lift and carry’ the Force with just a few world stars. How many times has Sharpie had to do a losing speech?

If the Force had signed other ‘big names’ and a brilliant coach, Genia might have thought again and again about the move. Oops, he did change his mind a few times over the weekend.

Genia going to the Force?

April 28, 2012 in Uncategorized

Wes-Australia is
David
afrigter aanstel. Nick Mallet sal great wees, maar wonder wat Graham Henry
vannaand in Perth gedoen het?

Te veel rugby en oplossings. SARU doen iets!

April 24, 2012 in Uncategorized

Rugby is a colision sport!

So sal SARU meer sê hê in spelers se welvaart.

14: L Mvovo 15: P Lambie 11: B Basson

13: JP Pietersen 12: F Steyn

10: J Goosen 9: F du Preez/R Pienaar

8: K Daniel 7: W Alberts 6: H Brussow

5: V Matfield 4: B Botha

3: J du Plessis 2: B du Plessis 1: C Oosthuizen/ B Mtwarira

Stormers verf Brisvegas Red!

April 23, 2012 in Uncategorized

Gister se span was ‘n gemiddelde 23 jaar oud.

Peter Grant was manjefiek.

Anyone remember the Northen Bulls? Rod Kafer backs Brumbies!

April 20, 2012 in Uncategorized

Does anyone remember the Northen Bulls? I just saw the last minutes of a Brumbies vs Northen Bulls classic game which the Brumbies won at Loftus. The Bulls had a white jersey with dark green on the shoulders and sleeves, with matching dark green sock. They had the Bulls horns on the jersey, but. What I can’t recall is how was that team combined. It had players like Bennie Nortje, Paul True, Marius Goosen, Jaco vd Westhauizen, Os du Randt & Jannie de Beer, well the few that I could recognised. Was the Northen Bulls a team from the Bulls, Lions and Cheethas as I cannot recall that Os du Randt and Jannie de Beer  ever played for the Bulls? Was it the 2002 disater year?

Rod Kafer and Brendon Cannon backs the Brumbies to beat Bulls!

Politics and rugby politics are not just exclusive to South Africa. Richard Graham, the current Force coach has been signed as new head coach of the Reds next season. Talk about bad timing; not even halfway through the Super15 season and the deal is done. Ewan McKenzie will become the Director of Reds rugby….sound just like a Rassie Erasmus move.

Is the McKenzie move to get him ready to take over from Robbie Deans? Deans is contracted till after the British & Irish Lions tour to Aus in 2013. What will happen to McKenzie if Deans wins the Fournations / Bledisloe and or Lions?

Rugby gurus are in two minds about the Graham situation. Some reckon he should leave the Force now, however, the Force do not have the money to pay him out. How many players will Graham lure to Qld? Will David Poccock follow? Graham is also under the pump because he critised James O’Connor for leaving the Force and questioned his loyalty. Make no mistake I think Graham has made the right decision as he is a Queensland-boy, however, the timing must have a very bad effect on the Force ant the rest of their season.

Phil Kearns reckons the Force will have to get the best available international coach. He reckons Nick Mallet would be the perfect guy for the job as players would consider to move to Perth to play under Mallet. That would be a master move. The Force CEO are searching for an Aussie coach.

PS: Wallaby legend Michael Lynagh, is still critical after his stroke yesterday. MRI will be done to diagnose any blood clots on the brain. Best wishes go to Lynagh.

PS2: Weather cleared up nicely in Brisvegas today after 3 days of raining. Prediction 18-27 C with showers!

Does Snake White have enough venom to kill Bulls?

April 19, 2012 in Uncategorized

Joke White already mentioned here in Australia that he awaits a hostile reception in the ‘Dutchmen fortress’ on Saturday! Really, Joke, who cares….? Not alot of SAFFAS! Remember that no SA franchise or Currie Cup team wanted you.
Most bloggers and gurus reckon the Bulls will thump the Canberra wild horses. One thing that this year’s SupeRugby has taught us so far, is that anything is possible. Ask the Blues about their outing to Madeliefie-land. So, yes, it is possible. Will it happen? Not likely. The Bulls could go to number 1 in the SA franchise if they beat the Brumbies with a bonus. Even if the Stormers beat the Reds in Brisvegas tomorrow night, they will have to get a bonus to stay on top, if the Bulls win with a bonus happens.
Does the Brumbies have a realistic chance?

Injuries not the only obstacle for Stormers

April 18, 2012 in Uncategorized

Injuries are not the only Stormers concern for Friday
evenings clash at Suncorp. The Reds also have more backline injuries and sharp
shooter Mike Harris is making his comeback at inside centre instead of flyhalf.
Juan de Jongh with his side steps would have had the upper hand and Bryan
Habana has the excess speed advantage over Ben Tapuai. However, it is the
shitty weather this week so far as well as the prediction for Friday that will
make it an even field.  Hopefully the
weather gurus have it wrong and it will dry up for Friday.

The wet weather will be a slight advantage to the
Stormers, as their pack should have the slight upper hand. Scrums will become
an even bigger lottery which could influence the result as penalties will
become crucial when scrums collapse.

It might come down to penalty kicks to determine the
outcome, which brings Mike Harris into play. Harris was brilliant before his
injury, so Allister Coetzee must make the sensible decision by ordering Peter
Grant to be the first choice kicker. I’m a big Joe Pieterson fan, however,
Grant has shown some great BMT kicking abilities this season.

It will be the fourth time for me seeing the Stormers
play in Brisneyland. I have enjoyed 3/4 wins and feel the Stormers just are too
composed for the Reds, so 4/5 is a big possibility.

Put
your ‘Ball on the guillotine’.

Duane will lead Stormers in Brisvegas!

April 18, 2012 in Uncategorized

Not only is he currently the best number 8 and number 7 flank in South African rugby, but, now he is trusted to lead SA’s flagship against the current SupeRugby champions in Brisvegas. With both Stormers leaders Jean de Villiers and Andries Bekker injured, Duane Vermeulen now has the C behind his name.Good luck Duane ‘Yster’ Vermeulen!

Stormers

15 Joe Pietersen, 14 Gerhard van den Heever, 13 Bryan Habana, 12 Juan de Jongh, 11 Gio Aplon, 10 Peter Grant, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Duane Vermeulen (kaptein), 7 Rynhardt Elstadt, 6 Siya Kolisi, 5 De Kock Steenkamp, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Tiaan Liebenberg, 1 Steven Kitshoff.
Plaasvervangers: 16 Deon Fourie, 17 Frans Malherbe, 18 Nick Koster, 19 Nizaam Carr, 20 Louis Schreuder, 21 Burton Francis, 22 JP du Plessis.

Rynardt Elstadt will have to cover for lock; no problem, but, it also indicates that he will have to play the whole game. Great, to get his match fitness up. He should, however, learn to control his aggression within the laws. He is sometimes trying to hard to be the ‘enforcer’, ala Flip vd Merwe for the Bulls, as both of them want to stake claim and be like their rolemodel, SA and World Rugby’s previous Enforcer, Mr Bakkies Botha!

The weather prediction for Brisneyland at this stage is a possibiltyu of showers on Friday. It has been raining in Brisvegas the last few days as well. Wet weather will suit the Stormers non-expansive game plan, although it will put more pressure on Peter Grant and Dewald Duvenhages’ tactical kicking. Suncorp’s surface do drain well so the pitch should still be in a good condition. The Stormers should have the upper hand in the set pieces, especially the scrums.

Heyneke & die Springboks, SpringBULLE of SpringblOUES?

April 17, 2012 in Uncategorized

http://afrikaans.news24.com/Sport/Rugby/Rassie-sluit-aan-by-Saru-20120415

Waarom Heyneke dalk reg is:

Hoeveel inset gaan Erasmus regtig in die spankeuses he?

Ek dink so.

Flip vd Merwe en Rynardt Elstadt is goeie back ups)

SpringblOUES:

15: Zane Kirchner 14: Francois Hougaard 11: Bjorn Basson

13: Wynand Olivier 12: Frans Steyn

10: Morne Steyn 9: Fourie du Preez

7: Danie Rossouw 8: Pierre Spies 6: Deon Stegman

5: Victor Matfield 4: Bakkies Botha

3: Werner Kruger 2: Chilliboy Ralapele 1: Gurhtro Steenkamp

Of dalk verras hy ons met

SpringBulle:

15: Patrick Lambie 14: Francois Hougaard 11: Bryan Habana ;-)

13: Jacques Fourie 12: Frans Steyn

10: Morne Steyn 9: Fourie du Preez

7: Willem Alberts 8: Pierre Spies 6: Heinrich Brussow

5: Juandre Kruger 4: Andries Bekker

3: Werner Kruger 2: Chilliboy Ralapele 1:Dean Greyling

God forbid!

Hier is ‘n span Meneer Meyer!

14: Gio Aplon 15: Patrick Lambie 11: JP Pietersen

13: Jacques Fourie 12: Jean de Villiers (beseer?)/F Steyn

10: Johan Goosen 9: Francois Hougaard

7: Schalk Burger 8: Duane Vermeuelen 6: Heinrich Brussow

5: Andries Bekker 4: Eben Etsebeth

3: Jannie du Plessis 2: Bismarck du Plessis 1: Beast Mtwarira

Problem solved…my plesier!
