Australia: the BEST sport nation!
September 30, 2010 in Uncategorized
Australia is the best sport nation in the world. With a population of just over 21 million, they are by far, the most talented country and the most passionate ‘all’ sport fans.
100 016 AFL (or gAyFL to most rugby fans) fans have to do the whole final all over on Saturday after Collingwood and St Kilda ended up in a draw last Saturday at the MCG. Only the 3rd time in history. Yes, for sure it is one of the most silliest things to comeback and reply the final. This time, they will have extra time if it ends in a draw. It will also bring in an extra A$19 million to the AFL. It is not my cup of tea, but, I must admitt that, although it looks like men in undies playing with a bar of wet soap, it was pretty tense in the last quater.
On Sunday is the Rugby League final in Sydney. They expect more than 90 000 fans at the game between the Sydney Roosters vs St George.
USA might dominate the Olympic Games and are the kings and queens of individual sports, however, when it comes to team sports, there is no better than the Aussies.
They have won World Cups in Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket and Netball. They qualified for the last two Soccer World Cups. They have good golfers, swimmers, surfers and tennis players. They predict to win more than 50 medals at the Commom Wealth Games in India. Aussie hockey (men and woman) and netball are top notch.
New Zealand, can also be proud. With a population of +4 million, they are the best Rugby Union team, no debate. They are the current Rugby League and Female Rugby World Champs and the only country not to have lost a game at the SWC 2010. They are competitive in cricket, especially the shorter version and also top in sevens on most occassions. Thei netballers are the only team to beat the Aussies on occassions.
