http://www.facebook.com/henryhoratio.kitchener

I sent a friend request and after weeks was accepted and is now this Kitchener’s only friend. No surprises there. I noticed this Kitch leaving comments on Sport 24 articles that sounded pretty much like our Kitch of the old sport blogs.

Anyone here and also on FB care to befriend him?

Perhaps we can create a more user friendly sport blogging and debating forum elsewhere.

With New Zealand literally being bowled over by our new under 11 Proteas my friend and I resorted to the WhatsApp converstion below:

Me: Hier is die great leveller. Daar is altyd iemand kakker as jy. Levi kan nog minder off side bat as Smith.

Friend: wanneer gaan die selectors besef first class cricket is sy ceiling. Wat ek hilarious vind is: “Levi is working very hard on his off side game with his coach PAUL ADAMS” !

Me: HAHA ja! Ook daai een gehoor en lag nou nog.

Friend: Dis soos om Symcox te gebruik as fielding coach.

Me: Kepler of Boycott as T20 spesialiste. Daryll Cullinan: How to play spin.

Friend: Respectx2

Me: Inzamam Ul hac: Running singles. Paul Harris: How to completely take the spin out of slow bowling.

Friend: Courtnay Welsh on opening the batting.

Me: Andrew Hudson: How to avoid the lbw.

Friend: Amla on how to get pissed after a game.

Me:Harbajan Singh: What to do with your wife’s old pantihose.

Friend: OK that one tops them all.

Friend: Hershell on how to prepare the night before a big game.

Me: Kevin Pietersen: When NOT to sms.

Friend: Ek lag nou so ek het die game gepause.

Me: Freddie Flintoff on pedalos and other dangerous objects. Shane Warne : Botox and bowling in the 21st century.

Friend: Bradman on keeping the best for last. Boucher on keeping your eye on the ball.

Me: Hansie on betting with Jesus.

Friend: OK, ek kan dit nie beat nie.

Perhaps we should pick our under nine B against New Zealand for the next game.

A test that looked dead and buried for us for four days ended in a splendid moral victory for Graeme Smith and his mighty men. Well done guys. After Michael Clarke’s double and two more centurions for the Aussies I admit that I had no hope. I firmly believed that our reign as number one will even be shorter that that of England. I also used the words “se…ma…jou…and p**s” not necessarily in that order a few times over the weekend.

Saturdays fiasco reminded me of that classic line in Pieter Dirk Uys’s play “Die Van Aardes van Grootoor”. The not so bright character got her expression a bit wrong by declaring “wie laaste lag lag laaste”. I know who was laughing loudest on Saturday.

One may continue on the metaphor line by saying “die een se dood is die ander se brood”.

Peter must be really enjoying the chaos that is now Springbok rugby and who can blame him. As coach he was villified, ridiculed and laughed at. But never under his tenure did the Springboks perform as badly as the last few weeks. What makes Saturday even more tragic was the fact that just about any other team, given the opportuniteis the Boks had would have clinched the game in their favour. The Springboks were as inept as a schoolboy attempting his first french kiss. It was messy, soggy and totally unsatisfying for all involved, especially us spectators.

What concerns me even more is Heyneke’s behaviour as a coach. I never thought this possible but he looks more silly than Div. The incessant shouting into the two way radio is comedy stuff, and not sophisticated comedy at that but pure slip on banana skin variety. The sad part is that we are laughing but really all of us feel like crying.

WHY: Is Lambie and Goosen not playing? Why is van der Merwe and Greyling even there? And lastly….why was I not rather born in Buenos Aires. At least I will be watching a team that I am proud of.

Regardless, our Olympic champions Cameron van den Burgh and Chad le Clos deserve all the accolades one can possibly bestow on them. After the disaster of Beijing we now have two gold medals! For Chad to pip the legendary Michael Phelps was truly a moment to remember.

I know Powachair has tried to keep us all informed about what to expect on the new WP blog platform. Everything I read about blogs that were already moved point to utter disaster. It appears that no categories exist so we will have to sift through all the blogs to try and find favourites like Met Uysh and Kitchener and for the laugh of the day Truvanhugo.

Then one has to log in to leave a comment. No automatic notifier of comments though so very little interaction will ensue. Also the entire site is apparantly riddled with spam bloggers.

Read the latest critisism here;

http://letterdash.com/Book_Ends/the-new-platform

Are any of you blogging on Word Press already? Is it user friendly? Is it better to wait for the mass migration or to register a blog now? Is it even worth it? Are there any other blog forums similar to 24?

If it’s not worth it can anyone suggest another hobby please. Knitting and sowing are not hobbies. It’s work.

Relax. It’s not rain drops on roses or whiskers on kittens. It’s yesterdays rugby. Only three days to prepare against a very good English team and Heineke answered all the questions.

Coenie Oosthuizen has all the attributes to become the greatest super sub since Skinstadt. Clearly he can cover both sides of the scrum, and along with Bismarck is one of the best fetchers in world rugby. Add to that his speed and tackling ability and here we have another legend in the making.

My new idol: Eben Etzebeth. Soon I will have to replace the Victor poster. And as luck would have it, Eben is almost as attractive as Big Vic. Err…I mean tall Vic. My call here: Eben may just develop in the best lock forward ever.

Marcell and Willem: We have so many great loose forwards but in these two bone crunchers the Springboks have it all.

Our new captain: Great game and brilliant captaincy. No need to look anywhere else as long as Jean can stay fit an injury free.

The bonus point: Bryan Habana has been reborn. He had an almost perfect game (one blip the Ashton try). Bryan was everywhere and made numerous line breaks. Also, he has developed a mean boot and is the complete wing now.

The English won at least one department of the test: The prize for most ridiculous hairdo. That goes to Joe Marler pipping Francois Hougaard by a whisker.

I look silly and we lost…at least my hair can grow…but can we?
