Once Were Warriors

Like most of us, I also enjoy a good giggle. Initially, when some bright spark hi-jacked Kitchener’s blog persona and avatar I thought it was rather funny. Kitcheners became Kitchenerss . A package deal with scruffy looking Anglo-Boer war soldiers, a heading that expresses the wish to rather be South African and an avatar message why England is so kak at rugby.

All good fun in it’s own time. That is the problem. Like any good comedian will tell you, and I am not one I have just read this somewhere, timing is everything. It is now time for KitchenerSS to go. The joke is over. I need not stress the point any further than “highlight” two of KitchenerSS attempts at humour on Rugby Guru’s post:

There are more examples but these should suffice. It is crude, crass and common, but worst of all, it is not funny.

For once, put the shoe on the other foot. Would any of you like your blog personas to be invaded and taken over like this? Would Sheriff enjoy it if Hugo blogs as Sherifff? Err…on that note would anyone enjoy it if Hugo nicks your avatar and blogs as you? What if Whallatwat decides to invade H&P or Couch Critic?

In the 2-3 years that I have been blogging here on the sport blogs there has been some code of ethics, albeit a very loose one. This is no longer playing by the rules, it is off side, out of bounds, an own goal for sport blogging.

KitchenerSS, it was a funny idea. Not as funny as Inhlanzi’s Second Coming, but funny enough. Now it is stale. Be a good boy and delete yourself.
