With all the injuries around are the Lions now favorites for Sa afternoons clash?

I BELIEVE SO!!

Now hear me out. – The Stormers has been hit with a cascade of injuries = Jean de Villiers, Reinard Elstadt, Peter Grant, Bryan Habana, Liebenberg(all season) and Broks been rested The big problem for the Men from the Cape is Peter and Jean the goal kicker and play maker booth out. This will dramatically lower their chances of winning.

Now I know you will be saying that the Lions have even more injuries which will be true. BUT the Lions at this moment does not have any world class players in their line-up and the first choice player is only marginally better than the second choice player, if that. Not even John Mitchell knows who his best player are and maybe all this injuries may work in their favour cause the players comming in might be better and deff can’t be worse.  Cupple all this with home field advatage the Lions must be favourites to win for the first time in 2 years of super rugby!

Now what should have been a easy 5 points for the Stormers to forget about last weeks poor game (like the Sharks had last week) now becomes a real tussel for points.

Now I can’t wait for Sa game even if the Stormers will prob lose. Because it atleast now will be a tight game instead of a borring try fest that nobody cares about.

So it was a bleak weekend for SA rugby. The Stormers lost at home, the Cheatahs lost again, the Bulls got manshamed and the Sharks beat the Lions in an error filled match.

It wasn’t the fact that the Stormers lost but the fact that they lost because the Reds management out thought their RSA counterparts. It was a master class exobition of tacktical kicking and good defence by the Reds.

And yes I know the Stormers (and Prologote?) did not help themselfs with 2 yellow cards, but the Stormers never even looked like scorring.

The Stormers should take this one on the chin (aka Jacque) and learn from their mistakes.

The Bulls is another storie. Now everyone knows running rugby is not Steyns best asset, Olivier is overrated, Spies is being used in the wrong way. FdP is struggling to find his feet, Matfield is only wondering arround the pitch and moaning to the ref.

BUT still you can’t play as bad as the Bulls did. There must be something wrong at management level. I hope they sort it out and beat the Reds but I some how doubt it.

The Sharks is still a good team that lacks real penetration in the Midfield. They beat the Lions but so did everyone else.

I do think the real problem in SA is not the players not even their age BUT the coaching staff. We are way behind Aus and Nz in that department.
