It’s “official” – It was the Bulls and the Sharks

Thanks to the Bulls and the Sharks for supporting the Lions in their bid to remain in Super Rugby.
From Rugby 365:
De Klerk also thanks the two unions that did support the Lions last week – the Bulls and Sharks.
“They supported us very strongly, but I will never involve them in this fight of ours with SARU … just because we are going to suffer losses,” he said.

Even if the “kings” – sic…play against Zimbabwe – I will shout for Zimbabwe – and nothing will come out – but the Watsons will line thier pockets – that’s for sure!!!

What exactly was the vote though? were the options as simple as kings or lions? Prehaps it was more complex

Lions (bottom team) vs Kings. That’s it.

no surprise there the WP rugby union has no backbone. fucking cowards are already bidding to buy lions players

What a surprise – the teams with the highest number of former Eastern Cape players!

I guess then if players will go on loan to other franchises that the Sharks and Bulls will get preference?
Baylion said on August 23, 2012
I suppose. But in the end it will be about offers received and the players’ preferences.
The Bulls would be the easiest for the players as they don’t have to move house. The Sharks is fairly well stocked except may at lock and flyhalf

What a great shame!! I wonder if the reason why everyone voted against the lions will come out… The Kings will be a joke next year and then they will be relegated again because the lions will smash them in the promotion relegation match… SARU is becoming a joke!!!!! Giving in to political puppets such as Cheeky Watson is a shame!! SHAME ON YOU SARU!!!!

Obviously some were never going to vote for us but it is disappointing that people who were expected to vote with us didn’t.
How the Lions being kicked out benefits the Pumas and the Leopards only they will know and the Valke didn’t vote with their senior franchise partner, the Bulls, while their top schools and clubs play in our competitions and leagues.

The other unions and SARU have opted for a team with political backing to suck up to their muppet masters, and with the dodgy deals and faulty business plans rumoured around the world cup stadiums, atleast saving face with one of the many white elephants sucking the public coffers dry… Nothing brings a politician quicker to the party than possibly being exposed (or free food and dop)
