Many a true word in jest?
The joke has undoubtedly become pretty stale and a tweet this weekend from one of the usual suspects (I think it was The Bounce though I could be wrong) read something along the lines of “CSA have shown some great spirit by flying some of the England Cricketers’ parents over from SA for the first test.”
Even with the stale jokes though it simply does not get any better when the intended recipients, in this case the English, throw in the towel and with great humour manage to take the piss out of themselves.
That is why Ian Hawkey’s write up in yesterday’s UK Sunday Times really caught my eye. The little cartoon was classic. Maybe its old but this was the first time I saw it. It was also coupled with the words in another feature in the same paper that pointed out why it is now evident why England’s number 3 and 4 batsmen had to leave SA to find another international team to play for because who the hell is going to push King Kallis and Amla out of the team? KP would simply have faded into insignificance had he stayed down south!

Let’s hope our boys can crack the whip today though and take those last six wickets because rumour has it the weather forecast for the 2nd and 3rd tests respectively is looking pretty ominous.
