It’s been a few months, feel’s like an eternity since REM has graced the pages of the blogs. I made it a promise to myself to try and stay away and focus more on studies and whatever work was thrown my way….how great that has worked out.
2013 promises to be a busy year for me.
Here is to hoping that in 2013:
The Sharks win the Super 15:
Easier said then done. The Durban based unit has come agonizingly close in 2012, travel around the world nearly three times to reach an away final. I think that they should have learned their lesson from this, winning at home, and winning away matches is vital if they want to go all the way this year. I think that the team itself has got some much needed experience, with some youngsters from the 2011 Currie Cup campaign coming through in the Super Series. They also have Butch James back, looking to end of a long career at the union where it all started and Franco vd Merwe on loan from the Lions, who will add some much needed experience in the second row.
The Proteas keep their Nr 1 Test Ranking
It’s still early days, but the Proteas should keep their Test Ranking in tact this year. Within their attack is Smith, Kallis, Amla and AB when on form with the bat and Philander, Morkel and Steyn deadly with the ball. Currently leading the Black Caps 1-0 and the St Georges Park Test approaching, the Proteas are in good spirits and with Gary Kirsten at the helm should be entertaining.
Heyneke Meyer changes his ways:
I have never had anything against Meyer. He is an accomplished coach on Currie Cup and Super Rugby level. The step up to the National setup would always be like a poison, he not being able to please everyone. I hope that he changes and adapts a new and expansive game play for us.
Here is hoping to a eventful 2013. REM is busy launching (or trying to) his own website. Will keep you posted as things move along.
Happy New Year to all.
