A few weeks ago, upon visiting my GP, it was revealed that work done when REM was still younger was not done properly. This was that one bloody year, when REM was still on school, Mom was retrenched and medical aid suspended. A year later Medical Aid was back on, and regular visits to the GP had REM in good health.
I have always considered myself a fairly healthy person. But a few weeks ago upon regular check up, it was decided to correct mistakes made years ago. Since I had my very own medical aid, I could choose and decide when and where to do the procedure. We decided on a date and that was scheduled to be 19-07-2012, but it had to be postponed to today 26-07-2012. It didn’t worry me too much until last night, when the reality sunk in. And this is the tale of the Sharks Jersey….
Everyone that has been in a operating room knows that they strip you down to your undies. The nurses and doctors knew the team I love so much, having told them weeks ago that the Sharks will play against the Stormers on Newlands. And since the day was confirmed by the Sharks comprehensively beating the Reds last weekend, suddenly the Stormers fans started to doubt whether their team could keep up with the intensity of the Sharks. For me it is simple, play all out in the first half, score a few tries, and do what they do, suffocate them in the second half. Yes, travel will play a huge part in my teams preparation, but they must overcome to prove that they are championship material.
The Doctor that oversaw the procedure never told me before hand what team he supported. The Monday after the Sharks destroyed the Bulls, I could see he was a little quiet, too quiet to my liking. Turns out when I saw his credentials, that he was from Pretoria….no wonder he didn’t have anything to say. Fast forward to today, and the operation has been done. I do feel better considering, but because I have been sleeping the whole bloody afternoon, I had to sit up and do something, so here I am, with a wireless keyboard in my lap, in bed, telling you a dull story of my day. So you must wonder, where does the title come from?
Simply put, like a small little brat, I didn’t ask for anything, just that my Sharks Jersey be present with me no matter where they wheeled me, and so, it has made the journey with me. Like in a methaphoric way, it has made me proud, just like my team has this entire year. Had we not lost focus, the situation could have been reversed, but that’s the way the Oval Ball bounce. Win or lose, I will still be proud that the boys has stood up so bravely.

Oh how I hate it when everyone else can beat their chests except me! But I’ll wait. Our time will come again. Soon…

Wahahahahahaha. Ok, seriously. Stormers Moet wen. I cant see us going to NZ to win the trophy. We cant even blame travel if we loose tomorrow. The Stormers deserve the Trophy this year because they put themselves in a position to do so.
