Blog Awards
September 20, 2012 in re-blogs, rugby, sport
Those that have been given awards can copy and paste them to a page or your sidebar. Feel free to give them to anybody you think fits the award,
I have been faffing about on wordpress trying to get a Sports blog started but it is like trying to manure a garden with Rocking horse shit! It just doesn’t work. The WP world is too vast and rugby and cricket are rather insignificant in comparison.
Lately I have decided to start posting on this site more often because I can see new bloggers opening sites and some old bloggers returning to comment mostly but some are starting to post again. There has also been some interest shown by overseas bloggers and rugby fans. I think things are starting to move here again at last.
MU has managed to browbeat the hosts into activating Akismet spam blocker so that side will improve all the time. The biggest problem that still exists but can be worked around is spamverts for handbags, Viagra etc. I have found a way to work around these moegoes so they are the least of my worries.
Today I want to award some of my favourite Sports bloggers and encourage all the other guys to open blogs and write posts and comment on others. A blog site does not function without interaction.
These guys deserve a frikkin medal let alone an award for sticking it out here and blogging regularly even through all the teething problems, some of which are ongoing.

Pot calling the kettle white
September 19, 2012 in rugby, sport, springboks
I am so sick of hearing this age old BS. There is no way that current and fringe players like JP Petersen, Habana, Beast, de Jongh, Aplon, Ndungani, Chilly, Mvovo, Kolisi, and even Sideshow, and many more aren’t in the coach’s plans or are being picked to fill quotas. These guys are there on merit and nothing else.
For Div to come out with this again and make his usual silly statements sounds a bit like sour grapes. Don’t forget that three or four of these players that he mentioned are injured.
Speaking to Ballz Radio on Monday, De Villiers slammed the lack of black players in the current team.
“It’s just the little things that bother me. We need to know in what country we do live. And at this moment we are turning a lot of black people against ourselves by making the team white and nobody will talk about these things but I just have to. And that is what… actually we’re breaking up our country again,” De Villiers told Ballz Radio in an interview inSouth Africa.
P Divvies starting lineup against Aus in the RWC QF…
1. Gurthrö Steenkamp, 2. John Smit (c), 3. Jannie du Plessis, 4. Danie Rossouw, 5. Victor Matfield, 6. Heinrich Brüssow, 7. Schalk Burger, 8.PierreSpies, 9. Fourie du Preez, 10. Morné Steyn, 11. Bryan Habana, 12. Jean de Villiers, 13. Jaque Fourie, 14. JP Pietersen, 15. Pat Lambie. Replacements: 16. Bismarck du Plessis, 17. CJ van der Linde, 18. Willem Alberts, 19. Francois Louw, 20. Francois Hougaard, 21. Butch James, 22. Gio Aplon.
I agree that there aren’t enough black players of quality but how does this get remedied when there is a lack of facilities and schools that play soccer instead of rugby if they do have the facilities. Don’t blame the coach at top level, blame the feeder system and lack of capable youngsters coming through. No coach worth his salt is going to pick players on colour.
“Point fingers now!”, it’s easier than finding the solution when you were sinking the ship. There were few fringe players white or black that were nurtured and brought through the system to ready them for the exodus of players and coach. “Last year it was stuff you Jack, I’m ok and now you blame the new coach”

Calling all ye ol’ bloggers … and new
September 17, 2012 in currie cup, re-blogs, rugby, sport, springboks, super 15
I never thought I would say this but ……
I know this platform lacks so much and has many issues still, but of all the 24.com blogging platforms this one performs the best
I am thrilled to see that the numbers of active bloggers are growing almost daily but out of the 500 registered members only a few are active with regular posts and comments.
The standard of posts is improving and comments are creating great dialogue. I have also been visited by a couple of overseas rugby friends.
I would like to encourage those disgruntled bloggers (Me included) that hated the move and became disillusioned with blogging to give this site a second chance. I am trying to put my prejudices aside and even though I think this site still has a long way to go, I am going to try to accept the format and make the best of what is available.
Remember, good posts and articles with active commenters and dialogue will attract other sports minded people.
Some of the old group of renegades and stirrers that only read but don’t comment or write anymore should reconsider the decision to stop blogging.
H&P, Dar, Ballboy, Inlhanzi, Kitch, Sherrifff, Dutch, Johan, Azurite, Whistle, Cornerflag, AvanZ, and so many more have virtually stopped blogging. Plus all Sherriffs Bulls enemies and of course everybody that tried to insult the resident Pom are all sadly missed. “PLEASE COME BACK”
If we all add our voice and bug the crap out of the editor we might get some changes and additions made. The site functions, even if poorly, and more participation should get things back to noral.
