Thanks Met uysh I agree with you, and I hope that he will realize that soon.In international rugby beieng loyal to certain players might just cost you your job. Yes I do have respect for him in that regard when it come to loyalty. But all we want is HM to succeed with our Beloved Boks. Choose players on Form, If Morne is the In form Flyhalf, than he should wear the 10 jersey. That is all we want MR Meyer

All of us will look a bit dof if Goosen can’t do the job on Saturday.

That’s the thing that maade me feel more positive about Heyneke being the coach. Yes, he was initially drawn to his own clan, with selections like JacPot JJ Engelbrecht, Werner Kruger, Dean Greyling and ignoring the likes fo Aplon, De Jongh, Ebersohn, Brussow (which is still the case unfortunately) but he is slowly learning that being loyal to your own clan won’t make you successful as Bok coach. What I saw in Dunedin was a team improving in strides, and contrary to what Brendan Nel says, I felt since Dunedin that we should thrash Australia this weekend regardless of the squad.

I’m will accept a win by 1 point. A win with this team is a step forward
Met uysh said on September 27, 2012
TBH I don’t really care what margin we beat them by. I care more about HOW we win, and yes, a win is a non-negotiable. I want to enjoy seeing my team play, and not be frustrated for 80 minutes every Saturday!

I am taliking but recent games.. But really dude was it that long ago when you last seen him sidestep, when he still had speed. I rest my case.

A team I would like to see.
1. beast ( Kitshof Marcell Vd Merwe)
2. tiaan liebenberg
3. cj vd linde lions ( KRUGER, Malherbe, WP NEL Cilliers)
4. eben etzebeth
5. andries bekker
6. brussouw
7. louw ( Kolisi, Daniel )
8. Vermuelen
9. hougaard ( Sareltjie)
10. goosen ( Jantjies )
11. habana
12. F Steyn ( JD Villiers)
13. de Jongh
14. Mvovo
15. Joe Pietersen ( Aplon)
I like your team just think that CJ VD Linde is not good enough to play on tighthead anymore. Rather go with Pat Cilliers, Malherbe, WP Nel or maybe Werner Kruger of the Bulls.
On Flyhalf Yes Goosen is good but Elton is my man. He brings so much more to the game. I mean come on to play in a loosing Lions team and still play like a Star, than this dude must be great. I still think Frans Steyn is overrated, I am sorry he just dont have what it takes to be a centre, Ive never seen Frans Steyn side step, take an gap besides he can bump people over and kick the ball 70 metres, we need playmakers in the team. And with a flyhalf like Jantjies or Goosen De Jongn will tear apart defences. Yes Joe Petersen is a brilliant option but Aplon just bring you the X Factor on attack and Counter attack. I have Left out Lambie but I do think he is a better Flyhalf option Or maybe Bring him on Fullback and shift Aplon or Mvovo around. and you alsways have the option of making Aplon Fullback in certain games and bring on another Wing for striking power.

“Ive never seen Frans Steyn sidestep”
Dude, clearly your glasses are tinted. When Steyn started playing he ran a WP team ragged in a Currie Cup game. Go check it out.
powa said on September 27, 2012
Frans will play a different game with Goosen at 10. Pity we will have to wait for the AB game to see though

I don’t think you read my comment in its entirety, you missed the “Compared to Steven” part. That doesn’t mean JC’s technique is poor, but compared to Steven, it is.
I’ll agree, saying it is poor is harsh but like I said, Steven has performed better.
“hardly ever gets penalised”?!?!?!. I hope that was a reference to when he scrums only because in general play he concedes too many penalties. As for outscrumming oppositions, that is not down to the strength of your loose-head alone but more down to the strength of your tight-head as well as you tight five. Compare the performances of the two against the same tight-head oppositions and Steven has performed better. The supposed weakness of the stormers scrum at the front row practically disappeared with Stevens performances.
Again, Like is said first time round “not in the starting line up or the bench but part of the squad”.
DieHardLion said on September 26, 2012
hmmmmmm, I’m not too sure I agree there. HM has pointed out that he wants to groom Coenie as a tight-head. And if you are referring to JC from the lions, then I’m quite shocked. I would never consider him as I do not think he is able to make the international step up. His scrumming technique is poor compared to Steven.
Look if I had a choice, I’d ask gurthro steenkamp to join the Boks again but I’m thinking about picking a youngster and getting him use to the Bok environment and structures, like he did originally with Siya Kolisi.
powa said on September 26, 2012
Maybe he didn’t want half the team to be younger than 21. Kitshoff and Malherbe will get their chance
Baylion said on September 26, 2012
I think the idea with Coenie is so that he can pack both sides. HM, and other coaches, prefer the bench prop to pack both sides although I think that from 2013 there will be two props on the bench.
As to JC, on what do you base ” I do not think he is able to make the international step up”? If his technique is so poor how is it that he hardly ever gets penalised and that the Lions have stood their ground, and often outscrummed, virtually every pack they came up against in Super Rugby and Currie Cup including the Crusaders’ All Black pack?

Who’s JC ???

JC van Rensburg of the Lions

I know, just jerking your chain
DieHardLion said on September 26, 2012
Just a quick question: how on earth do you get three lions in that team?!?!?!?!?!?!? You counted Jaco twice.
Didn’t know we had 2 players at the lions both called Jaco Taute.
I am pretty much happy with the team excluding a few but I’m puzzled by the exclusion of Steven Kitsoff. Why was he not chosen ahead of Deon Greyling? Steven, considering his age and that he participated in the under 20s world cup, should be part of the Bok squad. He outperformed Deon in the super rugby competition by a country mile…So why Deon?
I’m not saying start with him or even put him on the bench but.. make him part of the squad. It’s decisions like these that I think we will benefit in the long run but its decisions like these that HM seems to not be willing to do.
Baylion said on September 26, 2012
I agree about Greyling, shouldn’t even have been allowed to watch the Boks.
Kitshoff is probably fourth on the list for loosehead prop behind Beast, Coenie, and JC and nowhere on the list of tightheads. Coenie is being groomed to pack both sides, Pat Cillers and CJ already does, so Kitshoff is a few years off from Bok honours I think
powa said on September 26, 2012
Sorry didn’t take my medication this morning
Jaco is worth 2 players anyway

This is a young team to grow, has a vast bunch of players from different clubs and obviously if bismark was available he’d be in it.
Any thoughts on this are welcome
powa said on September 26, 2012
With the exceptions of Sarel, vd Heever, Deon Fourie and Joe I think the rest have been to a Bok training camp and are therefore in the mix
Badger said on September 26, 2012
I still dont understand how Zane Kirchner gets his keep and how Juan de Jongh never gets a chance. Try Taute at fullback, not a huge fan of the lions but he is a quality player, also wouldnt mind seeing Vd Heever in this squad he is also a very versatile option to have in the squad
powa said on September 26, 2012
Agreed. I think de Jongh is hard done by. Displaced by a 12 JdV because he is captain and then by a newbie. Not cool.
FreedomNic said on September 26, 2012
if HM continues with JdV as captain, the Boks might end up with another John Smit/Bismark senario where he gets the nod depsite not being the best in his posistion… But very with flyhalfs he selected this weekend…
powa said on September 26, 2012
Agree. JdV is 32 so will in all likelihood not make the next world cup. But who for captain then. Strauss? What happens when Bis returns.
Baylion said on September 26, 2012
The irony is that in the year the Lions gets kicked from Super Rugby they produce, potentially, more Springboks that they have done in years.

haha. ja, it is such a pity.
GEN DE LA REY said on September 26, 2012
Lol, Jip but the Lions current team (CC team) is on form and players like Taute and Jantjies are now coming of age.
One tends to think they are old already but these two are real youngsters.
I like the Bok 22 but would just swop Zane and Lambie.
Maybe Zane has a blinder on Sa with the Backline getting more ball and prove me wrong.
