The Peter de Villiers story – helium is sold seperately!

There was talk of this earlier the week and what do you know…the autobiography of Divvy is here, well, almost!

You can pre order the book for only R200 on kalahari.com
I would love to know from you….what is the one thing, chapter that would like to read most?
For one, I would love to read about how the team dynamics worked inside the Springbok camp. Everyone always claimed the team was coached by the senior players, but I dont really buy it. Hopefully the book will shed some light.
What are you looking forward to most to find out?

Whether he had an intimate relationship with Johno “fatboy” Smit.

We allready have a clown there Hanjo my friend! As JZ would say with a stiff arm…the bus is full
edit…I will read his book though

Last time I heard, John Smit has a wife. I guess you not going to bother to buy the book?
hanjooveres said on May 16, 2012
a clown? I’ve never seen Divvy wearing face paint or attempting to juggle anything…comedian might be a more appropriate term, but even then you are sarcastically insulting someone who has a sense of humour…which says quite a bit about yourself…
Pauljay said on May 16, 2012
It probably does…but we have a
had this argument a few times before. He did not wear a clown suit but imo acted like a clown, he also wore a green and gold suit and tie as coach but did not act as “I” would want an international coach to act.
But hey..on this topic…potato…patato
hanjooveres said on May 16, 2012
he didn’t act white enough, I remember the conversation. I just don’t agree.
Pauljay said on May 16, 2012
lol, those are your words…definitely not professional enough
hanjooveres said on May 16, 2012
I wouldn’t disagree with my own words, I think…I guess it all depends on what your definition of professionalism is…the coach of our national team is a job I wouldn’t recommend to anyone, specially if you start out with your back against the wall, I take my hat off to him and the way he handled the media and critics, I would’ve snapped long ago, he just could do nothing right…when he did the players were credited, when he didn’t he had to take the blame…say what you will about the man, but he endured being public enemy #1 for 4 years, jokes, out and out disrespect, racial remarks, he received it all. – he deserves a medal –

Our country has seen some good AB’s in it’s day, Smit, Francios, Chester, Louis Luyt to name a few. But after reading the hogwash of Victor and Gibbs’ “intimate details” I wonder whether this book will tell all. Still, I know someone, who knows someone that will probably get me a signed edition.
So my bit I really want to know…
Was his selection really what it was? What did he present in his presentation to Saru? What exactly did it say?

How it felt to always get hammered for things you said.

The thing I am wondering about is whether one would need help to interpret what is written in the book.
Unicorn007 said on May 16, 2012
i would like to know if Divvy really thought the things he said was funny.
hanjooveres said on May 17, 2012
do you want to know if it was intentional humour?

I would love to read about his point of view on how his appointment was made, how he envisaged the Bok team to operate but then got bombarded by Keohane, Oberholzer and co to rely on the senior players, and became a puppet to them, until he turned his back on them and started to put his faith in his team. Also will be interesting to read the behind the scenes politics and efforts to discredit him and get rid of him as coach. Will definitely buy this. It will be one of the most interesting stories in recent Bok history.

if he actually thought he would be in demand after his tenure as bok coach…

a dignified idiot is still an idiot…..
hanjooveres said on May 17, 2012
perhaps – so who’s the idiot you refer to?
Benlloyd said on May 17, 2012
i wonder if he had a plan going into a press conference? or quotes that he wanted to somehow fit in?
Ovalball said on May 17, 2012
your question is the winner by far! Love it! I would love to know this too now!
Ovalball said on May 17, 2012
one thing I can say after reading jake whites book. The way of operations at the start of a bok coaches career is never the way it ends up to be. even jake had poepholes over him that wanted to steer the ship. sometimes wonder what’s the point of appointing a coach if the team gets picked by politicians.
Ovalball said on May 17, 2012
what type of help are you refering too? School teacher help with grammer and spelling or psycho help with understanding what he is trying to say? hahaha
i think this is going to be a must-read!
Ovalball said on May 17, 2012
i don’t think we need his book to know the answer to that question. hearing people call you an idiot and a clown has to hurt at some level, even if you are thick skinned.
Ovalball said on May 17, 2012
what a strange thought…a dignified idiot..much like Mr Bean?
uysh said on May 18, 2012
I actually just want to see if he makes any mention of “The Mindtrix” in his book….:)
Ovalball said on May 18, 2012
haha…who will ever forget!
