Ouch!!

September 21, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hey All,

Well this weekend was a shocker for my predictions, I am going to ask Tank not to write the Cheetahs to win again, because everytime he does that we lose… (need to blame someone). So I was completely wrong on the weekend and I must congratulate teh Bulls and the Sharks on jobs well done, you came, you saw and you conquered… or actually you were there already, but hey!

As for the Sharks, they must now just realise one thing, they do not want to play the Cheetahs in the semis, because the group round robin stage and the finals stage are 2 different things, and when it comes to that stage, the Cheetahs, some how or another, show huge BMT, so I if the sharks want to be in the final, they had better hope they do not meet the Cheetahs in the Semi!!

To the Bulls, the current Champs (Read Chumps), you have come one step closer to a semi final spot… but don’t get too cozy there now, you still need a couple of things to happen. I am personally hoping the Lions do get into the Semis ahead of the Bulls, but only time will tell!!

But either way, I am not a fan of egg on my face!!!

And come the time for the final, we will see this again…

School Boy Rugby

September 14, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hi All,

As I have been saying for a while now, Grey College is the pick of schools when it comes to many things, but firstly they are the breeding ground of SA Rugby. The following Rankings come from rugby365:

The final FNB Top 20 for 2010:

1. Grey College (Bloemfontein)

2. Paarl Gim

3. Paul Roos

4. Affies

5. Monument

6. Bishops

7. Paarl Boys’ High

8. St Andrew’s (Grahamstown)

9. Waterkloof

10. Glenwood

11. Noord-Kaap

12. Florida

13. Boland Landbou

14. Grey High (PE)

15. Selborne

16. Tygerberg

17. Maritzburg College

18. Westville

19. Drostdy

20. Oakdale

With this now in, it is Grey College who is at the Top again, with not losing a single game this year, even when their top players were playing for the SA Schools side they managed to win all their games. Six of the Grey College team represented SA Schools with the Captain of the SA Schools side William Small-Smith also being a Grey College boy.

With a few of these boys getting contracts with the Sharks and the Cheetahs, we can only hope too see more depth in the game of rugby!!

We look forward to next year, to see if any school can beat Grey!!

Hey All,

Just a quick one, Johan Goosen, I am sure you remember me rambling on about him, the kid from Grey College who slotted a 67.1m Penalty, well here it is…

This guy also plays a strong game of running rugby and his tactical kicking is phenominal.

SA Rugby – Just a quick look at the Trophy Cabinet

September 6, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hey All,

I just want to have a quick look at our Trophy cabinet over the last years, I decided to start our Journey in 2007, Tri Nations (Please do not read anything else into this). In 2007, although shortened for the World Cup, we were the solid holders of final position in the Tri Nations, giving us the wooden spoon for our Trophy cabinet:

But then in the same year, we won the great William Webb Ellis Trophy:

Then Came the 2008 Tri Nations, once again back to its normal pace and length, and “Under new Management”, and guess what, we got the coveted ‘wooden spoon’ again!!

Then came the 2009 Tri Nations, please note I am not going into Year end tours and crap, because we love to ‘experiment’ on those tours, we came out and played a magnificent tri nation losing only one game and beating the All Blacks in their own backyard, which really got to them!! But needless to say we were now the holders of the Tri Nations 2009:

2009 was a great year and P Divvy was hailed as a great coach, and an innovator of the game (little did we know), but 2010 rolled over and Soccer World Cup took over SA just before the Tri Nations, and we are wishing that we could have the soccer back… We again came from our very high pirch and fell head first into the Shite as we were raped in the 2010 tri nations, winning one game at Loftus and losing 5, our coach has made his comments on things that he should keep quiet about and again we, the South African Supporters, look like a bunch of dimwitted idiots. Either way with one game still to play in this Tri Nations we recieve, once again the ‘Wooden Spoon’:

So, now I ask, will history repeat itself? In 2006 we also recieved the wooden spoon in the Tri nations, and I can almost Guarentee that come 2011, we will recieve it again in the Tri Nations… but come end of 2011 and we will have 2 in our cabinet a Tri Nations wooden Spoon and the William Webb Ellis Trophy!!
