Let the Springbok Fans pick the side.

Now before you climb down my wind pipe or sing my praises, hear me out.

I never, never, never ever watch South African Football. I think we lack skill and are nowhere close to our counterparts in Europe or South America. Not even close.

But one think that stuck to me like peanut butter to a clean floor was or still is the way they market Football in South Africa.

One little piece of marketing genius is introduced, I think in the Black Label Cup, or something like that where the Fans of both teams could make changes to the respective teams come half time.

Now is that clever or what? I think so.

Why not do in Rugby as well? It could work. Yes I know you can’t do it at international level, but just imagine how great it would be or would have been to substitute Zane Kirchner and Morne Steyn come half time. Pity you can’t get involved sooner or even with the selection of the match day 22.

Ok, maybe it won’t work or maybe it’s just a little unrealistic, but hell, I wouldn’t mind.

Imagine the changes we (45 million) Springbok Fans make in a Test and we win the Test after we were trailing at half time. How stupid would the coach feel. LOL!

Would this then force him to start reading our blogs? Would he start listening to the Fans? Maybe not hey?

  1. It would be nice if we could try it, but the only way this will work would be if the same applies to the opposition.

There’s no way a bunch of emotionally biased supporters, most of them intoxicated by half time, would be able to make a match winning decision in the heat of a match.

    It would be fun though.
