Brilliance!

Imagine this!

One moment of brilliance or one moment of stupidity can make or break a career and or person.

That little moment of brilliance when Eben Etzebeth (YSTERbeth) bumped off Bismarc has now propelled this mammoth man into stardom. Forget about Lambie and Goosen as the future of Springbok Rugby. “Ysterbeth” is the future of rugby, point, full stop with exclamation mark! We all know that in any rugby game the foundation is laid by the forwards. He is not the next Bakkies Botha. He is going to better than Bakkies Botha. That little moment of Brilliance!!

That little moment of stupidity that breaks a person and or his career is a no brainer. Kevin Pietersen or KP. What a chop. No further explanation needed or given.

This weekend sees me going to Lesotho for a week to visit one of my favourite places in the Country. A liitle GEM called Semongkong, right in the middle of Lesotho.

Semongkong is know to have the Highest free falling waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere at 196 meters and the highest abb sailing at 202 meters. You have to see it to believe it. Here is a little taste!

Sport with a twist!

Friday is Post Day!

After the week that we had sporting wise, I must say I have had enough! Politics is slowly but surely killing sport for me. Just ask Baylion. He is no longer with us, what a shame. He was one of the most passionate Lions supporters and an even more passionate Blogger. He will be missed, but I also think he will be back.

Enough is enough. I will not watch any rugby this weekend, or any sport for that matter. I will spend my time camping and 4x4ing. I cannot think of anything better to do to recharge the batteries than sitting next to a fire, sipping on a Johnnie Walker and biting down on a Free State Lammetjie. This is surely the right medicine after all the Crap weather we endured in Cape Town the past week.

Here is a little taste of my world:

The Sharks. WP bogey team?

August 12, 2012 in Uncategorized

Strength vs Strength. That is what was promised to us for the now already on the way Currie Cup. A statement that couldn’t be further from the truth. How can it be true when 30 Springboks aren’t involved? All of a sudden the Lions look like they are actually enjoying playing rugby again. I would also be glad not being Bullied week in and week out. They can now do the Bullying because the Big Boys are away. So Strength vs Strength, I’m not convinced.

Coming back to my heading.

Are the Sharks now WP’s bogey team? Before the game their supporters made comments like” die naweek k@k jou span weer”, and just before the Semi Final comments like ” enjoy your whiskey, you are going to need it”. Are the Stormers/WP supporters quickly becoming no better than our Pommie friends by “chest beating” before the time?

WP was supposed to run riot against a Sharks C side, but as per norm with WP, they took a healthy lead only to slip into their defensive comfort zone again. A beautiful drop goal sinking the SA flagship once again.

I said it before, and i’ll say it again. Fire the coaches. Mr Coetzee and Mr Fleck are like cancer to a healthy body, slowly but surely killing a good team. Fleck was a flair player in his day and has done nothing for the WP backline to get them going. That being said though, he did well with UCT the year they won the Varsity Cup. That was also the year he got the job with the Stormers. So is it really his fault? Coetzee did great things with Wp/Stormers a few years ago. they were suddenly competing for trophies again. There was even talk about him being Springbok coach just before Helium de Villiers was appointed. So what went wrong?

Maybe its time to rethink the coaching staff or atleast their tactics at Province, beacause it isnt working. Get Nick Mallett in, he is free and I am sure he will grasp at the oppertunity to coach a SA side again.

Lions vs Kings

Anybody that is everybody have written about the Currie Cup that starts tonight. Me personally need another 2-3 weeks off from rugby. The Super 15 just drained me mentally.

A lot of you already chose a winner and subsequently the team that will finish 6th . 6th Spot is a potential dangerous spot because that team would have to play the winner of the 1st division for a place in next year’s Currie Cup.

Never one to be without controversy I thought that instead of predicting who would win or lose, I would rather focus on who I would like to see playing in this “Final” come the end of the year. No surprises then when you see the two teams I would personally like to see contest that promotion/relegation match.

Why? It comes after the very comical year we had. Our beloved rugby administrators made us the laughing stock of World Rugby by not being able to determine who the 5 teams for next year’s Super 15 will be, definitely guarantying that the Kings would be playing and now also still not knowing what is happening themselves.

So what does this have to do with the Promotion/Relegation match? Simple really. The winner will have bragging rights. If it is the Lions, they will certainly then have shown that they belong in any competition more so than the Kings and if the Kings win, well then they will say that their inclusion into the Super 15 is justified because the Lions Currie Cup team is the same as their Super 15 team. That off course is also dependant of the Kings winning the 1st division, which looks likely.

At this stage any team could end 6th, Strength vs. Strength will see us having a very competitive Currie Cup.

Good Luck to the Sharks. Let go “rain” on the WEEPEE parade once again. Weather in Cape Town looks crap at the moment and its going to be even crapier tomorrow!

Cheers

Bigger than the game!

Need we say any more?

KP always was and always will be a controversial character.

Brilliant, that he is, we can give him that. Bigger than cricket itself, well that he isn’t.

I am the first one to make fun of the English because I get great satisfaction when and if they fail, just because they are so arrogant. I have always supported KP because of all the politics involved in his decision to leave SA and adopt England as his new home. But after his interview stating that he might retire after the 3rd test for reasons other than financial reasons, I have to say, it sounds a bit peculiar. This man now thinks that he is bigger than cricket, he will play when he will, for whoever he wants to, basically, on his terms. Well, if I am the England selectors I would ask him to bugger off right now.
