A Sharks Supporter feeling sorry for the Stormers
July 29, 2012 in Uncategorized
Yes, you read right!
I am a Sharks supporter through and through and you will have to look very hard to find a happier man at this stage. I didnt even mind playing 10 shots more than what my handicap allows, not even a tiny bit.
Earlier the season we had rugby experts, names would not be revealed. Rugby experts whom are also Stormers supporters. They said back then that the Stormers play the right game plan, which was a defensive game plan. 17 Games without going over the try-line once, thats right, not once. Yet they still believed it was the right approach, because defense wins you trophies. They were not prepared to acknowledge the attacking problems. Attacking players like de Villiers, de Jong, Applon, Habana, Pietersen were made to tackle their guts out. For what? Another conference trophy. Whoop de Whoop!! Even if the Sharks go on to loose next Saturday, they have shown that they are the best SA team currently, that the Lions did indeed have one very, very, very, very lucky day.
Back to my heading though.
I have been to more Stormers games and they have grown on me, because I now also stay in Cape Town. They are my second team, if one is allowed to have such a thing. It breaks my heart to see them bow out of the Super rugby tournament. I blame one man and one man only……..Mr. COACH!
You have for the past few seasons, taken attacking players, very good players, and turned them into defensive players. And what did this bring you? I agree that the Stormers are at least consistent, but the empty cabinet is a worry.
Now, please get rid of Mr Coetsee, he is bad for Stormer rugby. Bring in Nick Mallett. You will not be sorry. Because next year will be the same again.
Cheers guys. Well done the Stormers for a great season, but even more well done to my Sharks boys!!! Win or loose, we are behind you next Saturday

If you are feeling for the players I hear what you are saying.
If you are feeling for the supporters though then I don’t. As has been the case for the past few years, the moment the Stormers win a few games at the beginning of the season then we all hear how this is going to be their year. You only have to go on to Sport24 and look at the comments made.
So yeah, sorry for the players in a compassionate way ut no sympathy for the supporters at all

Whilst I am over the moon with the Sharks deserved victory I think it is a bit over the top to describe the Lions victory as very ,very, very, very lucky-the fact is that day the Sharks presumed they just had to pitch up & collect 5 points & were outplayed by the Lions. The positive is that it made the Sharks stronger & a lesson learnt culminating in this current rich vein of form.
