Great SA Sporting weekend
July 23, 2012 in Uncategorized
What a fantastic sporting weekend, well, if you are South African.
First of all, well done to my boys! You did us proud and although it is very frustrating to support you, we are still proud.
Its a tough call against the Stormers. May the best team win.
As for the Bulls. What can you say? 14 “Springboks” against 7 All Backs. Surely a mismatch, hey? Nope, not to be. Just shows you what a lucky season they had. My concern here is that most of these palookas will don the Green and Gold.
What can you say about this man, Kallis and Smith? They batted the Poms into submission. It was like watching a movie where a young convict was raped, raped again and raped some more by big bullies in a prison.
I can see us winning this comfortably. Even the weather is on our side.
Ernie, you Biscuit!!!!!! WoW! Thats all I can say. I had tears in my eyes both for your victory and also for Adam Scott. You made us proud!!
Last but not least. The English had something to smile about. I heard one of their okes won a cycle race. Cycling isn’t a sport anyway so not much to write home about. I bet you in about a months time that a story will surface that the guy that won tested positive for some sort of drug. Must be. A man with sideburns like that must be on drugs.
Here is to hoping that we wrap up the test today.
Have a great week

Well the Sharks played some brilliant rugby and is deff one of the form sides in the comp. I was also cheering the Sharks, not that I think the Stormers will win them but I do feel we have a better chance than against the Crusaders.
As for Amla and co just awesome!!!
Els was a bit lucky but hey he has had so much bad luck in the last few years. As he said it was his time!!
Bradley did do a good job of winning TdF but the real heavy weights of the TdF Andy and Alberto were absent. And with the longest ever time trails in the tour this one was made for Wigings. But well done to him he never ever looked in trouble or even bothered with the rest.

Ernie said before the event that he was feeling good and that at 100 – 1 odds, it was a pity he wasn’t allowed to bet on himself. I wonder how many people took a chance on his belief.

Harry Redknapp had big money on him. I just had to enter a Captcha code to reply on my own post. WEIRD!!!

Well played Sharks! Stormers will be worried! I’m a bit worried that if the Sharks do beat the Stormers, will they be able to cope with a third consecutive week on the plane and try and win in New Zealand? I think SA’s chances are better if the Chiefs/Saders come play at Newlands…

Uysh. Thats a big concern. They allready exceeded expectations regarding flight etc. History says that no team has ever won back to back games when flying all over the world. As a Sharks man I’m behind them, but my head tells me Stormers to win

What’s with this friggin captcha code this morning?
Stormers had better tackle everything in sight or get whipped on Sat.

General my good man, to down grade Wiggins tremendous victory just because Contador and Schleck were absent is disingenuous to say the least. You can, and only need to, beat those that are put in front of you.
Yes there will always be the what if’s, same as what if Wiggins had not crashed out of the 2011 TdF.
Of course it would have been better for Wiggins if Contador and Schleck were present to have silenced all the doubting toms once and for all, however there is always next year or even the Vuelta in September (provided Wiggins doesn’t ride for Froome to repay the favour). Wiggins has been the inform rider this season, just look at all his wins, and it would have taken a colossal team effort for either Contador or Schleck to have beaten him (and Sky) at this years Tour.
Wiggins climbing has vastly improved and while I do think Schleck may have put a few minutes on him in the mountains it would never be enough to counter the huge deficit from the time trials. Neither Evans (although perhaps past his prime) or Nibili (a renowned climber) were able to put any time over Wiggins in the mountains and in fact it was Wiggins what pulled away from both of them. Contador is more of an all-rounder and it would have been good to have seen the two battle it out, but of course without the stimulates no-one really knows Contador’s ability, his 2007 & 2010 (later stripped) TdF Victories were extremely narrow even with the drug taking.
Oh and a slight correction, the 2012 Tour did not have the longest ever time trial, long but not the longest. The last few Tours were more suited to the climbers due to celebrating 100 years in the Pyrenees (2010) and Alps (2011). This years Tour was back to the traditional All-Rounders circuit, which yes suits Wiggins, but that’s because as he has shown this year, he IS the Best.
