This team reads like an old boys’ reunion. This is a move backwards. There is so much that could have been done, and fair enough, there are a lot of injuries making possible young stars unavailable, but these tests should be used to bleed younger player. Cant see this team making a quarter final of a WC.
these people are so pathetic. we cant even ship them off to nz because they don’t want them either! makes me so angry. and on such a emotional weekend.
What a game! And what a crowd! Last year I wrote a blog saying how sad it was that so few people come out to support the event but this year it was well attended. Over 20 000 on the first day and over 30 000 on […]
Couldn’t agree more. There are not set rules. you should pick the best players for the game you want to play. learning to call the line outs is not brain science. and if you don’t have a smart enough forward to […]
Well commented blog! You really poked the bear on this one Baylion!
The fact of the matter is any world class flyhalf, and more specifically world cup winning flyhalf can kick well. Even Larkem had a decent foot. […]
I think HM is smart to pick FvM instead of PSdT. You don’t want two rookies packing down against the Welsh on their home ground.
Depth is an issue for a few spots. I think the senior players like JP, GS, BB, JF […]
Thank you! Perfect way to start the weekend…even though its a working weekend for me anyway.
I liked the blog but I was hoping for more…blog started with so much promise…
You do make a valid point on South African players only. It will also show where the real gaps are, like who can step into Flouw’s […]
Best SA scrumhalves:
7. Shaun Venter
8. Faf de Klerk
If you look at the last two names it just shows how little I rate the WP scrumhalves as Shaun […]
I think Scarra did well the last time the teams met on the point of scrums. His general play is outstanding and he very much deserves to start.
In a final I would rather bring experience onto the field than take […]
Jokes aside… The Lions can make the best with what they have, if they are able to get a few players from the Pumas and the Kings…and maybe in case of injury some or two from the Leopards.
Who is this imposter? This cant be Baylion! Kings and Lions working together…! Sometimes you cant believe!
I might have been slightly bias towards Province… I see in the two teams I choose 11 WP players and two that just left the union. OH well, class is class..hahaha
Based on the last two weekends’ rugby: 15. Aplon 14. le Roux 13. JdV 12. de Allende 11. Habana 10. Steyn 9. FdP 8. Vermeulen 7. Kolisi 6. Flouw 5. Etzabeth 4. PSDT 3. Jannie 2. Bissie 1. Beast
Left out based on […]
Love it. the last one is great…
So the that photo of Jean d Villiers!
Sounds about right. One less prop though.
I feel for Carr…he has really played well in Vermeulen’s absence. I might actually leave Burger out based on his lack of game time and game fitness.
All of you make valid point.
All I am saying is that from SR all the way through to YET the guys don’t get much time off unless they get injured badly. And even if a guy comes back from injury and hasn’t played […]
Gen de la Rey, you make a very good point. All the comments so far shows our union’s short sightedness. Sharks are in fact saying they will start their Springboks on Saturday. This is not good for the three guys […]
Does one Springbok guaranty a Currie Cup final? Or two, or three? Putting them straight into the team, where they played along side other players, had possibly different understanding of defence etc, could do more […]
Western Province for once have too many fit players to pick from! Its been a while since the team from the Cape wasn’t on its fourth flyhalf or no8, or something of the sorts. So it was interesting to read about […]
