Who should be our Bok captain?

Firstly I am glad to be back and blogging again, since the change of the website I couldn’t log in as it always gave me an error report, but thankfully that now has been resolved and I can share my views and opinions with some good, knowledgeable sports fans on this site, so to my first post since being able to log in again:
Yesterday after seeing the team to face Italy over the weekend and the inclusion of Jean de Villiers at 12 made me wonder whether Heyneke has got it right in terms of captaincy, not only for now, but looking forward to the World Cup in 2015.
I love Jean and he has been an idol for me growing up, but it is clear that he is ageing and that he is coming to the end of his career. In my honest opinion I don’t think Jean will be going to the World Cup in 2015 and that begs the question, who will be our captain come the showpiece in 2 years’ time?
One of the main reasons Jake White, or any other world cup winning coach for that matter was successful was because they had a captain that went through all the highs and lows with them, a player that gave his all on the field and was an inspiration to any player coming into that team. Just look at the names of winning captains, John Smit, Richie Mcaw, Francois Pienaar, John Eales, Martin Johnson to name a few that was playing in my time, Jean de Villiers as a captain looks out of sorts in that list.
I think we can take Wales as a good example, the picked a young captain in Sam Warburton and built a team around him and he as well as Wales rugby has been a massive success ever since.
I think Meyer shouldn’t be afraid to pick a young player to take over the captaincy and lead a younger generation of players into the next World Cup. Meyer needs to start looking at the bigger picture, we as South Africans won’t remember small games against Italy, Samoa and Scotland so experiment in those games, pick a new captain, try out new formations so that we know what we have when we firstly go into the Championship and secondly so that we can prepare ourselves for the next world cup.
