Springbok Selection Process

October 29, 2013 in Uncategorized

As we all know that the springbok squad got selected last night. Personally I don’t agree with some of the players that Meyer chose.

Springbok Squad

Backs – Gio Aplon, Jean de Villiers (captain), Fourie du Preez, JJ Engelbrecht, Jaque Fourie, Johan Goosen, Bryan Habana, Zane Kirchner, Pat Lambie, Willie le Roux, Ruan Pienaar, JP Peterson, Jan Serfontein Louis Schreuder, Morné Steyn.

Forwards – Willem Alberts, Bakkies Botha, Marcell Coetzee, Bismarck du Plessis, Jannie du Plessis, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, Siya Kolisi, Francois Louw, Frans Malherbe, Tendai Mtawarira, Scarra Ntubeni, Coenie Oosthuizen, Gurthrö Steenkamp, Adriaan Strauss, Flip van der Merwe, Duane Vermeulen.

My concern is that some of these players selected are becoming older and at this time I believe we should be playing with the younger players so that they can get some game time and it will also be better if we have young fresh talent to go to the world cup. To me Bakkies Botha is getting too old to play, as well as Gurthro Steencamp. We should have younger players playing. There a lot of players in this country who have been playing extremely hard to get a spot in the team and now they don’t get chosen because of the overseas players. I understand Bakkies is in good form but my opinion he is too old.

I do not understand why Meyer keeps selecting Ruan Pienaar when there other scrum halfs who are in great form. For example if Meyer likes to select players who are currently playing overseas why not select Rory Kockott who is in incredible form at the moment…… In SA there are players like Sarel Pretorious, Cobus Rienach, Charl McLeod, Piet Van Zyl and the list goes on. Not sure why Louis Schreuder got selected.

I’m pleased to see that Aplon has been given a chance because I still don’t see why Kirchner keeps getting chances from HM I think it must be a Blue Bull thing….

I hope the Springboks do well overseas, I’m just hoping that the team selection process improves and that HM takes all the players into consideration.

Good luck Boys!!!!!!

Lions vs Southern Kings!!

February 8, 2013 in Uncategorized

This is going to be a huge match, both teams looking to prove a point!!!!!

The Lions will be wanting to beat the Kings to prove a point that they shouldn’t have been kicked out of the Super Rugby Competition.

Southern Kings will be wanting to prove point that they should be in the super 15 Competition and they will be wanting to prove there crItics wrong.

My prediction is that the Kings will win, but who knows anything can happen.

Its going to be a cracker of a match.

Good to back on Sports 24 blogs, it’s been a while.
