April 1, 2012 in Uncategorized
Big congratulations to AB de Villiers and Vernon Philander who have soared up the ICC test rankings after South Africa’s 1-0 series victory over New Zealand. Both players have been in good form and it will be great for us if they can continue in the good form they are in.
AB De Villiers made two half-centuries against the Black Caps and he went up four places to reach the top of the rankings table for batsmen. This is the first time in AB’s career that he has done this in test cricket. He is now tied level with Australia’s captain Michael Clarke to share the No 1 spot with 821 points. Congratulations to him for his great accomplishment.
Vernon Philander, who became the second fastest player to reach 50 test wickets in the third and final test, went up 11 places in the ranking to a career-best fifth in the rankings for bowlers. Well done Vernon I hope your current form continues.
Jacques Kallis dropped one place to third, while Hashim Amla, the only other SA batsman in the top 10, climbed two positions to eighth. Dale Steyn retained top spot, while Morne Morkel dropped one position to 10th. Kallis remained in second place as the country’s top-ranked all-rounder.
Congratulations Boys hope your rankings improve more and more as your cricket careers continue. Keep it up!!!
