An Update & Changes on Hurricane Earl   September 1, 2010     10:00 a.m. in  U.S. Arizona

Changes/Update on August 31st Prediction: Hurricane Earl though still a force, will graze a wide East Coast area without actually making landfall. New Jersey will no longer be impacted uniquely or as serverely, as foreseen earlier. Expect a wider berth and severe winds and rain along the East coast of the U.S. with power outages and some flood and wind damage but less of an impact as earlier foreseen or would be the case if there was landfall. The storm will stay out a bit from the coast, versus hit the East coast of the U.S. directly. The earlier prediction of Hurricane Earl being a category 3, down to 2 as it comes to the U.S. East coast remains the same.

The next hurricane, Hurricane Fiona will not be a threat to the U.S. East coast.

Hurricane Earl Prediction:       August 31, 2010   5:30 PM in Arizona, USA

Question: What is the outlook for Hurricane Earl? Will it come ashore or do any damage to the U.S. East coast? If so, where will it most likely have the heaviest impact and where will it do damage? What will be it’s path?

Soul Whisperer: Hurricane Earl, a category 4 hurricane presently, will do damage on the U.S. East Coast. It will hit, most likely at night and hit hard. New Jersey to be the hardest hit as it moves inland there to a degree and then rolls North up to the tip of Cape Cod in New England. Earl won’t go up to impact Maine or Canada to the degree forecasters are concerned it might. No, it will pretty much roll out back to sea and disperse after it hits the East Coast and finishes rolling off the tip of Cape Cod. 

Expect the most damage in the New Jersey/NY coastal areas with this hurricane as it hits hard. Earl is strong and compact with high winds and tends to “rip through areas” rather swiftly and it won’t take long once it hits to see the damage as it moves forward and northward before heading out to sea again.  When it makes contact on the East Coast of the U.S. it will likely be at a category 3, turning to 2.

North Carolina will be mostly spared from this one, but for the very northernmost tip of the state, some winds and rain.  Maryland and Delaware will get some winds and rain/flooding. Connecticut and Providence shorelines will get more impact as this Hurricane moves North and spins off of these areas before it heads off to sea, skimming briefly (less powerfully)the Cape Cod area before it goes out to sea, dispersing.

B.P.s Last Steps in U.S. Gulf; Will “Static Kill” go as planned? What’s best?

July 31, 2010   Posted at  11:45 PM Arizona, USA

Background: As reported by the Associated Press on July 31, 2010: Engineers plan to start as early as Monday on the static kill, which involves pumping mud and possibly cement into the blown-out well through the temporary cap. If it works, it will take less time to complete another procedure known as a bottom kill, the last step to permanently sealing the well by pumping mud and then cement in from the bottom, which could happen by mid- to late August.

Soul Whisperer Answer: It’s not the best idea. Static kill (which drills through the temporary cap) relies on everything going “perfectly” at the top and it will not (go perfectly.)  It’s easier to complete the relief wells and stop this problem reliably, from the bottom. If you do it from the top (static kill) AND the bottom which B.P. is currently proposing (and about to do) it’s not going to work very easily. It’s going to create a few more problems and delay the process further.

The advice would be to simply finish the relief wells and pump the cement/mud in from below. Do not tempt fate by trying to do “both” from the top and the bottom, particularly initially. Start below with the relief wells first, pumping mud/ cement in from the bottom. If you want to do the static kill (from the top) also, do it “after” the bottom exercise is near finished with the relief wells down below, with their pumping of mud and cement in from the bottom. Do not attempt to do both simultaneously and/or to start with static kill (from the top) or you’ll have problems.  The relief wells and working to plug up the well from below is the wisest and clearest solution now, if you don’t want added inconvenience and problems.

NORTH KOREA RESPONSE To Joint U.S./ S. Korea 4 day Exercise  Posted at 2:00 AM  U.S.A  Arizona  On July 25, 2010

Background: North Korea has threatened “a physical response” to Washington’s plans for joint military drills with South Korea.  From Reuters news-what was told to reporters, straight from Ri Tong-il, a member of Pyongyang’s delegation at the security forum; “There will be physical response to the steps imposed by the United States militarily.”  The military drills, he said, violated North Korean sovereignty. These joint maneuvers (S. Korea and U.S. military) start on Sunday, July 25^th.

From the Associated Press on July 24, 2010: A massive nuclear-powered U.S. supercarrier began maneuvers Sunday with ally South Korea in a potent show of force, four months after the sinking of a South Korean warship. North Korea threatened the exercises could lead to nuclear war.

Question: What will happen as a result of these joint maneuvers starting this weekend? What will North Korea do? What is it up to? What does it mean by “a physical response” that it threatened? What will the next 4 days bring?

Answer: It won’t be as bad as expected or as “could be” for now.  North Korea will try to make “war like moves”, posturing itself etc. to try to “scare off” the U.S. “invaders” and show itself as powerful still to S. Korea also. It won’t take steep military action but it will try to prove it’s capable of doing so.

North Korea feels very threatened and they want to “stay off” the U.S. and S. Korea ships coming too close. They will “warn” the ships if this happens and also blare out warnings.

If the ships come too near, N. Korea will use a few torpedoes launched close enough to the U.S. and/or S. Korea ships to create distress and concern if the U.S. & S. Korea doesn’t heed their warning to leave the area.  They want to create fear and to make the U.S. and S. Korea stop this “‘encroachment” as they see it and aggressive military behavior against them.

Most likely if N. Korea thinks the ships come too close: N. Korea is thinking to send off a few torpedoes, near enough the ships to show that they (North Korea) mean business. But that’s about it for now. They’re hoping by posturing and doing some torpedoing (warning ones) that this will be enough to make U.S. and S. Korea cringe and leave the territory. If the U.S. does not leave and continues on with the maneuvers, they may try something else. But for now, they’re planning just the torpedo move and to try to scare people off (their thinking is that torpedoes were used before and killed people, hit the S. Korea ship so there will be the fear/threat of that again, enough they’re hoping for the U.S. and S. Korea to leave and regroup maybe later.) The torpedo plan is only if North Korea perceives that the “invading ships” are coming too close for comfort.

Note: China has definitely impacted N. Korea’s decision not to get overly aggressive right now. China knows they are sitting on a “time-bomb” relative to N. Korea’s ways. China has been communicating with North Korea secretly.

At this point in time the 4 day exercise beginning Sunday, July 25th, 2010 will be tense but without major incident. More tensions will build however through this exercise.

BP Oil Spill & Tropical Storm Bonnie through Gulf Area-What will be Its Impact?     

2:40 PM July 23, 2010  Arizona, USA

As people know, BP (British Petroleum Company) has created a massive oil spill in the Gulf coast of the U.S.  And Bonnie, a tropical storm is heading that way. There is a cap on the leak now, which is holding so far with minor leaks but not enough to cause real trouble.

The question looming is what will the impact be of this tropical storm on the containment and clean-up process, etc?

Here is what I see with the Gift:

The tropical storm (Bonnie) will pass through the area and not create too much damage.  Most of the storm will pass around the edges of where the oil spill is, just grazing it.  There will be high winds (mainly) and some oil will be pushed into the marshes and inlands as a consequence and there will be some wind damage in inland areas, especially.  Overall, as to impacting the efforts to continue working on the relief well for the oil leak etc… it will be less than expected. The storm will pass quickly and be relatively benign, but for the high winds.  The cap will hold though oil will continue to leak a bit around the edges as well as through a few spots on the ocean floor. But nothing catastrophic. BP may attempt to fiddle with the cap to tighten or adjust things slightly after the storm passes and will do further tests; that decision (to do anything more) to be made after further observation, after the storm. It (the cap) though imperfect, will hold well enough until the underground relief wells are ready.

To Sports fans and Rugby fans,

I’ve been asked by some people from this site about my thoughts and what I see on Rugby & the 2010 Tri-Nations Tournament.

First, I have to say I know nothing at all about Rugby, except that it looks like a great game and looks very physical.  (I am in the U.S. so you can forgive me.) I know only (with looking it up and some web sites tipped to me to look into) that Tri -Nations involves Australia, New Zealand and South Africa teams.  

Looking at all three, the first thing that came up was that though South Africa would not be last, in this tournament it doesn’t look like it will be first (Sorry, I know for all you avid Springbok fans, I know you love your team!)  New Zealand is coming up as strongest for this year’s Tri-Nations tournament. Again, I do not know Rugby or anything about the teams, including their history or how the tournament works, or what stages it goes through until it picks a final winner. So I say this with very little information or knowledge, just using the Gift to see what I see.  

Why New Zealand? There is determination here plus a certain skill set that will be hard to beat. They are VERY determined. It looks like many of them do ‘overtime’ in preparation work for this type of tournament. They will play very hard and be very hard to beat. This tournament runs through their blood, they live, eat and breathe it every day. It’s terribly important to them to win this year and go out on top.

South Africa is determined also but they have some nagging doubts swirling around inside their heads. They are not quite sure they can make it, as winners of this years Tri-Nations. They are also a little bit scattered at times, not quite coalescing or putting all their skill sets together as a team.

Australia is still struggling to get an identity in themselves as strong players who can play together as a unit applying their strengths as a good team. They tend to criticize each other at times too much and that can get in their way and add to their struggle during play.

I will be posting something soon on Italy, France and England (this may also include an analysis of the finals Germany/Spain game) and why these teams struggled in the 2010 Soccer World Cup, what were the real reasons going on that created difficulties for these teams, an insider look. Uruguay vs. Germany   Third Place Finals World Cup Game,  July 10, 2010

Though the Octopus stomach says Germany wins, the Uruguay side wears a different grin. They feel they can win it and know that they can. And without thinking twice they push forward, each man. They do not think much of the oracle’s choice. For they’re Uruguay and believe, they have their own voice. And little by little they wear the side out; that is Germany wishing for home, sauerkraut.

Okay, we’ve moved up and down and all around in this same game analysis and drama unfolding, complete with Octopus twists and turns. It is now close enough to the game that we can see a winner…..and the winner is?

See Uruguay to be slightly more determined in this game and take this one away from Germany . Pride is there for the Germans but they just don’t “feel it” in the same way that Uruguay feels it. They are not as confident, they are not as willing to work for it as Uruguay, though it will be a strong push from both sides.

Uruguay will play stronger than Germany will in this game. They are slightly more determined and well schooled in thought now to win, to be the ones leaving with the trophy. They’re relaxed for the most part and yet excited to be going home soon with a medal (in their heads they already see it).

Whereas Germany is still feeling low, a little more negative from their last performance (with Spain) and imagine it’s going to be a very difficult game; fear it a bit more. They’re not as relaxed as they could be then and making it harder for themselves by way of their imaginations faculty. They feel they will be up against a real challenge (true) and yet feel it won’t be easy to win it either.

Rather than think about their strengths, they are giving too much power to Uruguay to beat them (and that’s just what they did to Spain.) Lowering their expectations on themselves to win this game (via their imagination) this makes the other team stronger and look better than they otherwise would. Though Germany will struggle to put out in this game, it will not be enough to counterbalance the other team’s will to win and ability to take the opportunity at hand. They all understand how it feels to lose and Germany has just lost a game (more recently). Whereby with Uruguay they’re finally here at the Third place finals, happy to be here, and ready to go.

It will be a fight but Uruguay will come out on top. In their imaginations they have “won it” and are already going home to celebrate with the winning prize in hand. They accept winning in their hearts, minds, souls and bodies and they’ll act like winners on the field.  Germany has had a chance but in the finals you can’t allow fears to creep in; it destroys your natural best. Though they try in this game, it’s just not enough to reconcile their chance lost to Spain. It’s still on their minds and weighing heavily on them; we could have done better that game.

Question: What about Paul’s prediction that Germany will win? How will this impact the German team’s mental climate? Has it helped at all? 

Answer: It has helped Germany (some) and it will help them to play more strongly, at least to give out more effort, to see if they can get something going. Still, they have felt disappointed with themselves and it’s been hard to recover from that. They knew that with Spain they had a chance and undermined themselves, playing defensively like that, awaiting Spain’s attacks, again and again, and always being on the defense. They knew that there was something “off” in that game and they haven’t quite recovered from it. They are upset with each other and themselves for being fearful in that game versus proactive and in their game strength.

The prediction from Paul (favoring Germany to win) will give them a lift but it’s not enough to recover completely from their recent “fall from grace”, with Spain. They’re feeling anxious coming into this game with Uruguay. They know they’ve been defeated (and in their imagination) they feel they’re already going home and defeated. They don’t feel like winners today even though they will seem like they’re putting out. They don’t want to lie down either and let Uruguay trample over them but they just don’t “feel it” any longer to play in this World Cup tournament. Defeat is in their hearts and minds (still). They just don’t have the same mindset of Uruguay entering this game.

Summary: Uruguay is stronger for a win here even though Germany has built up a bit since the first analysis, they’re still not as charged up and ready to fight as Uruguay is. They’re still fearing somewhat a loss (like before) and not quite 100%. Many of them are less confident and not all their players are 100% either (like Klose, he’s not at his best right now.)

Why a Uruguay win? Being that they’re less afraid of losing, less intimidated that way. Uruguay knows that it can win this, because it wasn’t expected to get this far. They have a confidence they can give it their all and come back with a prize. They’re strong mentally and physically, not fearing or weakened by fear. Uruguay knows that if they charge forward strongly and steadily, and with mental determination (which they have) they have a chance here. The German defense won’t be able to defend every time. Uruguay is more determined and can “see” their team winning this one and going home with the prize.

I can empathize with the German team when after doing so well and performing so strongly for many games, when they lost to Spain and had their confidence shaken a bit. In my case, making predictions, I was also so sure that Germany would win and after such a number of accurate predictions in the World Cup, getting the German/Spain game wrong, was also a bit of a shock to the system.  Though I know that nobody can perform at 100% all the time, that’s impossible, it can take one aback and shake one up some. I understand fully where the German team are coming from and how they’re still in recovery. 

New updates are in, as its hit the news that Paul the Octopus has chosen Germany to win in Third Place Finals. A new drama is unfolding. How will that affect the team/s and the confidence levels and their mental climate? Will it impact the game?

Update since I wrote the Uruguay/Germany game post:

As I newly learned about the latest news of Paul the Octopus’ latest pick of the German flag to win, I asked about its impact.

Question: Will the Octopus predicting a German win, and their subsequent belief in this myth and the superstition, now give the team enough of a boost to believe they can overcome and beat Uruguay? Will it impact at all, how the German team performs?

Answer: Yes, it could (turn things around for the German team), indeed. Their lack of confidence in themselves needed this boost and now they have one, albeit it from a sea creature that is used to picking around seaweed not flag posts!  So yes , belief in  the myth, could give Germany the added and necessary boost it really needs to see past this last flawed game with Spain. Will it be enough, you’ll  have to check back in closer to the game to observe any subtle changes.

Oh Paul, you didn’t!   (Happy for Germany though, that they’re getting an added boost.) Now you do need to check back in for updates! I’ll look at this whole situation again and how the teams/game look, about an hour before the game starts.

I will try to post an analysis on the Finals game, Netherlands vs. Spain. Check back in before that game begins.

Below is the game/team analysis on the Third place finals game and winner. I’m still learning how the nature of predictions work and the strange twists and turns that can come at last minute to impact games (Latest example: Germany/Spain game result). I had dismissed and minimized it myself before the game, the negative impact of the Octopus superstition and its prediction against Germany, and the resulting fear which was created, bringing out negative thoughts, doubts and memories of losing to Spain in the past. So as I’ve learned that anything can happen in the last hours to impact a team and change the game around, check back in here to see if I can see any changes on the Third place finals game, before that game starts.  If I don’t post again on this game, this goes:

Uruguay vs. Germany   July 9, 2010

Something has been taken out of Germany; they’re not quite their former selves. This  “setback” in their last game against Spain, really made them feel quite small. It’s going to be hard to recover newly, in time for this game. They appreciate having come this far but they had really hoped for more and better from themselves than this last game showing with Spain. It’s a “hiccup” but they’re still feeling the hiccup in their throat and it won’t be easy to remove it in time for their next game with Uruguay. Though they’ll appear stronger for sure than what they did against Spain, it will not seem like the same German team that beat Argentina or England or Ghana. Something has been taken out of them in this last game against Spain.

That said, Uruguay has been more and more building and feeling refreshed from some time off. They are looking to beat Germany and feel strong enough to do so. They are feeling confident and quite able. So look to Uruguay to have a slight edge in winning this one and overpowering the German team in this upcoming game. They will not do it overwhelmingly but with enough to take the game and win Third place in the finals.

It’s a good match up but I see the image of a dog running with its tail between its legs, not as assured, not as confident, still carrying the past concerns and past failures, still too fresh in their memories (German team).  This doesn’t help with one giving their strongest performance they are capable of, even if one tries very hard to do so, to put out, as they will try. Something (then) is always a bit missing, something is still a bit off, not complete (in Germany’s play). It’s going to be hard to shake off (their last experience/performance with Spain, etc…) in order for them to have a more ‘winning mindset’ in this next game with Uruguay. Unfortunately so, as they are a talented team when they feel strong and have confidence.

Why a Uruguay win?  Uruguay will press  Germany harder and make them have to come back to protect themselves more regularly and they will capitalize on Germany not feeling as strong as they normally do. That confidence from Uruguay  (and lack of confidence still in Germany still recovering) and steady push and more forceful striking from Uruguay will make Germany run about more to do defense. They’re not at their very best, in just defending; no one is. The German team needs to be able to create enough good opportunities of their own, to strike. By keeping Germany busy in defending, Uruguay knows the German team will have less steady opportunity to strike themselves, they’ll be more at a disadvantage then.

Mental Climate of Germany coming into this game:

Tired, they’re worn out and still “feeling it” from their last game with Spain. Just exhausted but more mentally/emotionally spiritually tired of it all. It was a hard game to lose when the team was so close to the finals point. They will just have to suck it up and do their best they’re thinking at this point. Sorry about the past, having a hard time shaking it off very completely. Not looking forward to this last game in the World Cup, as they usually do (look forward to playing). They’re devastated and collapsed from their last loss with Spain still. It will be a hard game for them to go out and play with their heart and soul in it.  Justifying their collapse rather than analyzing their fears that tore them apart in the last game. It’s hard to win when you’re still feeling bad about your last performance. The mind can only hold one key thought at a time and the main thought in Germany’s mind right now is to control the ball and let’s not lose like we did with Spain. Fear of losing (again, like that) is not a healthy thought to carry into this game along with their frustrations and disappointments from the past. Alas Germany will still have some of these lingering thoughts too dominant in their minds as they enter into the upcoming game with Uruguay. Doubt, concern, worry, wishing it could be over, the game done and find some peace and comfort at home.

Mental Climate of Uruguay coming into this game:

Determined. We’ve come this far to let it go now. We can do this. If we really focus on Germany’s weakness and push them off their rhythm (kind of like Spain did) aggressively pushing them towards defense, we may have a chance in this one. We can’t slacken or let up towards the goal. Similarly we need to be very good on defense and protecting our goal post. We can do this. We’re not afraid. We have come this far and no one expected that from us. So here we are. Let’s have fun and get a win in for Uruguay. Third place is a fun medal to win and bring back. It says we are still winners, even if in Third place. Happy, ready to go, willing to put out their best in this next game. Determined.
